Password protection for Documents and Spreadsheets: Maintain privacy

Hello,
I have brought an idea which you people might already know, the topic under discussion here is “How to protect word documents and excel spreadsheets with one’s own password?”
I came to know about this when I was just saving the document I had made. This option might be useful for the people who work on important files of office. This is also helpful if a child operates a computer in which important files are kept. Confidential files can also be kept safe through this option.
So all you have to do for this is while saving the file, Go to the option “save as”. You will get a dialog box something like this:

By clicking this dropdown box shown above you will get a list in which you have to select “General Options” and type the required password.
The next time you open this document you will be asked for the password.
This can also be done for documents (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), presentations (PowerPoint).

A Quick Registry Hack: Changing the default Program files Directory

 Hello Readers,
Here is a quick and easy registry hack to change the default Program files directory in a system. I tried this when I was installing Adobe photoshop CS3 in my friend’s computer.
All I did was I just went to the registry editor through “Run” command, there I did the following:
I headed to the following strings: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE| SOFTWARE| Microsoft| Windows| CurrentVersion|
Here is the image for that:

In the list provided in the right side Double-click on the ProgramFilesDir. You will get a dialog box something like this.

Change” C:\programfiles” to “E:\programfiles” in the Value Data box. Now, you have successfully hacked the registry.
From now on, you were computer will take “E:\” as the default Program files directory. In the same way, you can also change the directory of Common Files and Wallpapers.
PS: The changed Program files directory may not necessarily be “E:\”. It can be any other drive which you like.

Shutdown made Easy: Creating a Shutdown Icon on the Desktop.

Hello, here is a way to shutdown your computer in a way other than the conventional one. This is easy when compared to the usual way. (Going to the Start Menu and clicking the shutdown button).
I came to know about this idea when I was just seeing the contents of system32 folder. I came across an icon called Shutdown. I thought of keeping a shortcut of this icon on the desktop. But, the shortcut I created did not work. So, I asked about this to my friend and he said to do the following:
1. Firstly, right-click on an empty space on the desktop.
2. Go to “new” and click “Create Shortcut” in the popup menu.
3. You will get a window like this:

4. Type “shutdown –s –t 0” without inverts in the place marked in the above image.
5. Press the “Next” button. You will be asked to type the name of the shortcut. Give the required name and press “Finish”
6. You will get a shortcut on the desktop.
You can also create restart icon in the same way. All you have to do is type shutdown –r –t 0 instead of shutdown –s –t 0. And for the Log Off icon just type shutdown -s -l in the shortcut address Dialog Box
